The Rang Mahal
Introduction: This is a photo of a place called Rang Mahal, located inside the Red Fort, built by Shah Jahan, who was a Mughal Emperor.
Layout: The Mahal in this picture is also known as the Palace of Colors. This picture showcases its rich architecture, with a mirrored ceiling and pillars adorned with beautiful floral designs and colorful detailing. This Mahal is constructed entirely of marble.
Tale: During my stay in Delhi, I visited multiple places, but one, in particular, had an intriguing story. While there are many Mahals and Palaces inside the Red Fort, Rang Mahal caught my eye. The Lahori Gate is quite popular, but this one often goes unnoticed. It was exclusively built for women, specifically for the females of the Royal family to rest. Inside the Mahal, there is a shallow canal that flows down onto the marble floor. The royal women used this canal to cool off during the scorching summer months. I found it quite thoughtful that something like this was designed solely for women. It's also known as the Palace of Distinction for the same reason. It's worth mentioning the Taj Mahal, built by the same Emperor, Shah Jahan, in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It's fascinating to learn that women in the Mughal Empire were not only warriors but also advisers in political matters, and they held control over financial resources.
